4-H at Minnesota County Fairs are not just fun annual events. Every summer, tens of thousands of 4-H youth participate in county fairs to showcase the knowledge and skills they've gained throughout the year, and to continue their learning experiences.
4-H youth spend months working on projects designed to equip them with essential life skills such as problem solving, decision making, project management, communications and public speaking. 4-Hers then share their accomplishments and educate the public about their subject at their local county fair. 4-Hers who demonstrate the highest achievements are then selected to participate in 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair! They also lead visitors on tours of the 4-H buildings and barns, and conduct workshops and hands-on demonstrations for the public. County fairs not only make great memories, they help 4-H youth grow into successful adults. Changes in Minnesota 4-H rules impacting 4-H member eligibility for participation in 4-H judging experiences and advancement to Minnesota 4-H competitive events are included with policies.
The Compeer Financial Fund for Rural America has awarded 64 grants to support Fairground enhancement projects in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin this year. Blue Earth County Fair was awarded a $4000 Grant for the new sand and gravel in the barns and Rolling Areana. The Blue Earth County Fair Board wishes to thank Compeer Financial for this grant, along with 4H families for their helping in getting the sand to the barns for the animals.
